This shoe is about more than good looks. The design was groundbreaking back in 1995. The Air Max 95 was conceived by Sergio Lozano, an industrial shoe designer. The inspiration first came from the rough-and-tumble Oregon landscape, where Nike is headquartered. Lozano took inspiration from the earth and the idea of erosion with striations from deterioration and layers that form over time. Adding to this inspiration, Lozano added aspects of the human body like ribs, muscles, and vertebrae. The iconic design followed.
The Whole Body
Today’s Air Max 95 includes much of the same inspiration. Still including the striated upper and laces modeled after ribs, this kick is sure to impress. Punctuated with a contrasting Swoosh, the soft and durable suede upper offers style and function that can’t be beat.
The Air Max 95 doesn’t skimp on details. From the colorful eye loops, to the embroidered graphic tongue, and even the visible Air Sole technology, this sneaker ticks every box. While the air technology was already revolutionary, the 95s featured it at the forefoot of the shoe for the first time, providing full-foot support to stabilize the body.
All-Day Play
With a synthetic leather, mesh, and suede upper for optimal support and ankle movement, these kicks are perfect for all-day wear. The polyurethane midsole coupled with the rubber sole makes for the ultimate in comfort and support. Get full traction with the legendary waffle pattern, derived from the destruction of co-founder Bill Bowerman’s waffle iron during his famous tread experiments.
The visible Max Air midsole gives athletes big and small some extra oomph during sport or play. Excellent cushioning techniques that maintain stability make this shoe a long-lasting, reliable choice for anyone who wants to look cool while working up a sweat. Enhance that sporty, stylish vibe with your favorite team’s jersey, or some sweet Swoosh leggings. Check out all of Nike’s shoes and sportswear here.
