The man, no myth, just legend
High school could barely contain him. So it was after his senior season that he declared for, and was taken in, the 2003 NBA draft. The Akron, Ohio, native went to his home-state team in Cleveland and nearly erased the team’s longtime woes by leading it to the 2007 finals, further than it had ever gone since its founding in 1970.
He won two titles in Miami before returning to Cleveland to finish the job with another in 2016, and his championship story remains to be written while he potentially finishes his career in Los Angeles.
Along the way, he’s been an all-star 16 times, an all-NBA first-teamer 12 times, a league MVP four times, and a finals MVP three times. He’s even been voted the league’s most popular player twice and been listed by major media entities as one of the most influential athletes in the world.
So LeBron is about more than just statistics. Over the years, as his athletic prowess has earned him increased attention, he’s used his platform to speak out on issues of various importance to him:
